Trauma is not what happened, it is not the event itself. It is the wound that formed in us from experiencing the event. That is what we seek to heal. We cannot change the past, but we can heal ourselves from it.
Finally, we do not compare events here, as what causes trauma for one may look very different than what causes trauma for another. Instead we seek to find compassion for ourselves and others as we heal from the wounds of our past, whatever those might have been.
